winter foods

This Minnesota winter is finally starting to kick in (we had our first "feels like -30" the other day, yikes!), and so are my hibernation tactics. All I have been wanting for dinner lately is soup, potatoes, fresh-baked bread and red wine. I also havent been wanting to do anything except snuggle on the couch watching Netflix in my new jammies... Here are a few of the delicious winter things I've made.

Today, Erin had us over for another swap: winter edition! It was, of course, so much fun (maybe even more fun than last time, if that's possible...). I feel like this type of get-together is just the perfect way to get to know the other bloggers better. Chatting, munching, trying on clothes.... it is really such a girl-fest! I of course, brought back a whole bag of stuff from girls like Lindsey, Maria, and Emma. I am sure there are others, I just have yet to learn who's. :) But that's just fine with me, because I brought at least three bags there in the first place. Win, win!

Anyway, here's what I wore, inspired by two images from my pinterest "outfit inspiration" board. The first, was this image from the Maison Scotch Fall 2011 lookbook (of which I am in love with!), and then I added a fur snood on top for a little bit of extra drama, inspired by this image of Jen from Jenloveskev. Mine is just a vintage fur collar that I wrapped around to make a scarf. Though I wish I had pinned it in place, because with all of the digging around looking for clothes and trying stuff on, it just would not stay put!

Huge thank yous again to all of the girls that came and brought such amazing clothes to swap, Erin for hosting us, and for Lindsey for taking so many pictures! I cant wait to see all of them soon.

more candles in 2012

You guys, I am totally on a roll with my 2012 new year's resolutions! Its not even February, and I've already adhered to three of them. Here's a look at some of our new candles in action. (I say "some" because I went a little crazy with the Bed, Bath & Beyond gift card we had leftover from the wedding. I didnt know what else to buy, so I figured, let's just go nuts with candles!)

They are now all over the house. Mostly in the living/dining room. But I did have one extra that I plopped into a mason jar in the kitchen. I dont know, in case I'm making a romantic dinner by candlelight? Here's to accomplishing our goals this year!

Now, I wont deny the fact that I have a craigslist problem. I do... always have, really. There's just nothing like finding such incredible deals on beautiful, unique furniture in your area, just waiting for someone to take it home and appreciate it! But recently I've been bitten by the home-buyers bug (that's a whole 'nother story, my dears. One for another day...), and my problem has only gotten worse. I cant help patrolling craigslist (and lets be honest, the whole internets) for things "that would look great in our new house!" And things that "we're gonna have to buy if we get a new house." Oh, blanket sweater. I love you so much. Especially on those cold days when I roll out of bed with just enough time to get dressed and scrape my car off. How I love to just throw you on and know that I wont be freezing my butt off all day at work! You are reliable and fuzzy on the inside. You make me feel fashionable without even trying. You are the next best thing (nay, the same thing) as wearing a warm blanket at my desk, happy as a clam. Today was just one of those days...

resolutions

2011 was a whirlwind of a year for me. An Amazing year. I traveled a bit, got married, celebrated friends and family, and I tried to fully appreciate the wonderful life I live. It's not always what I'd pictured myself doing at 25, but I am lucky. And in 2011 I think I did a pretty good job of reminding myself of that! And yet, there are always little improvements that can be made. Some things I've been thinking about making a priority in 2012:

+ Start eating meats again. Something to do with grabbing life by the horns and never holding back!! Never turning down an opportunity to eat well, enjoy life and stay out a little bit too late.

+ I need more candles in my life. Buy a bunch of candles. Something to do with romance.

+ The ubiquitous "I need to get in shape" resolution. I agree with Erin that "get in shape" feels a little bit more attainable than "lose weight." I just feel my age beginning to catch up with me (see above). I'm thinking Mary Helen's Ballet Beautiful might just be the perfect change for me.

+ Have no fear. I might need to deal with some big (difficult?) life changes in 2012, and I have to remember not to be afraid, and remember that everything will work out in the end. Life may not be like I had originally planned, but sometimes it turns out better! Travel more, even if you dont think you have the dough, and take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves to you. Make opportunities happen for myself!

+ Seek out simple little ways to de-stress. Pay bills in advance, have a glass of wine before dinner, make homemade bread and other baked goodies more often.

+ Create more. Whatever that might mean.

twenty eleven re cap

Here are some of my favorite outfits of 2011. I find it super interesting to go back and revisit what I thought were my favorite outfits of the past year, and what themes I latched onto. They always surprise me! Plus, I remind myself what I liked and what to wear again soon! (Here's my 2010 recap)

January

Cozy wool sweaters and stripes prevailed in january. Also, I loved this pendant I made out of an antique padlock.

February

Lots of boots in February. Or rather, my two favorite boots over and over! I've been meaning to get these in to the cobbler soon! I also love this aztec printed snood scarf I got on sale at ASOS. I still get compliments on it.

March

I hardly get enough chances to wear this great swing coat from H&M, but I love it when the weather is just warm enough (but still cool enough) for its bracelet-cut sleeves and bare legs! Also, I think March is when I began wearing lipsticks for the first time.

April

We had a pretty chilly April, as I recall. Still wearing tights and jeans with socks, but luckily didnt need boots for once!

May

I know barfff, but I had to include it! My wedding dress was the perfect vintage 50's number with built-in crinoline and a giant bow on the back. This picture was the best I could find of the full ensemble, with a vintage flower crown and red suede shoes from Zappos.

June

Found an awesome pair of vintage jeans, looked like Rosie the Riveter, and started trying out maxi skirts in June. This one was worn to the Black Forest to reunite with my New-York-dwelling pal Joel and friends!

July

Holy suntan batman! I didnt realize I had gotten that much darker laying around up at the cabin. Kinda nice too see though! Reminds me of all the lazy days spent there (when can I go back?!?). Notably, Emma gave me that grey vintage dress and I had it tailored to fit. LOVE.

August

Apparently, now that I am a married lady, my outfits get a little bit more grown-up in August. I'm likin it!

September

Stripes, stripes, stripes! Falls a-coming!

October

Maria gave me the loveliest sun dress at the swap, and I only got to wear it once before it got too cold. I cant wait to wear it again!

November

Another valiant attempt at the maxi skirt, this time for fall. I cant give up my jeans and button-ups though...

December

Black, navy and jeans prevailed in December (still are). Thrifted a gaggle of great vintage sweaters that I have just been living in lately! Especially that cream cable-knit one.

Before the Holiday, I was contacted by the wonderful Laura from Stitch Fix, about partnering with my blog to be one of the first (lucky) participants in their wonderful new online styling service!

I had a great time and will definitely do it again in the future. Read my full review and how I styled the pieces they sent me, below!

First was the packaging. They send you a giant bundle with 5 items, wrapped in delicate tissue paper, with a sticker closure. They even included a little gift, a Stitch Fix sticky note pad (Aw). I opened the package to find a dress, sweater, blousy top, pair of leggings, and my personal favorite... a blanket wrap sweater!

First up, I ended up falling for the Jaloux velvet burn-out dress, it just felt so luxurious and different than I would normally wear, but still edgy. I decided to keep it, and wore it out to New Year's Eve with my friends! I went to the Amsterdam Bar & Hall, where a friend of mine works, and Communist Daughter was playing. Styled with my own sheer polka dot tights from Urban, and red heels from Zappos. (I wanted to wear it like this out, but had to wear opaque black tights and boots to stay warm enough!).

Next was a great basic black and white striped sweater, with just a bit of metallic thread in it. It is just a bit oversized, but still fitted, which was perfect! I think it looks great with my favorite jeans, some suede booties, and a red fisherman's hat (that I borrowed from my husband, thanks babe!)

I wasnt too sure about this black blouse when I took it out of the package. It has an elastic waistband, which I dont normally go for. However, I liked the very unusual cut of it, and the gold button details on the shoulders. And I have to say, I liked it quite a bit once I put it on! Here I styled it for a night out, with jeans, a fancy gold statement necklace, and Michael Kors black pumps.

Finally, I styled the black leggings along with the BB Dakota southwestern print blanket sweater and my own grey Tom's for a comfy cozy look. If you know me IRL, you know that I have never met a blanket sweater that I did not like, and this one was no exception. It was warm, stylish and fit really well in the sleeves. I could totally see myself wearing this, unapologetically, everyday to work. The leggings also fit great, and I like the wide flat higher-waisted waistband on them. They had zipper details on the ankles, and faux zipper pockets at the hips (not pictured).

Can you see the joy on my face? Unfortunately, I could only keep one thing without going totally over my budget (dang Holidays, you make me broke!), but otherwise, I would have totally kept this too... (boo).

Anyways, I highly recommend trying this service out. It was super fun to take the style survey at the beginning, and see what they thought you would like. I almost felt like they knew better what it was that I wanted than I do. If you do try this out, email me first, they give me a $25 referral credit for every client they get through me. feeling ambitious

I dont talk much about my career goals on this blog, or even life plans. I started this blog as an outlet for interests that had no relevance in what I liked to think of as my "real life." And yes, my blog world and real worlds have been colliding this year, more and more each day. But I have been feeling pretty inspired lately in the career department. Yes, I think I have some new plans and new ambitions, and while I dont think I'm fully ready to commit 100 percent to them now, its a start.

I am really thankful to have the wonderful job I have now, at MCAD. I am so lucky to be in the place that I am. Besides it being my alma matter (MCAD 4 EVAH), it's an arts organization chock full of creative students, artists, designers and staff. I am inspired by the people around me daily. I also got quite (unexpectedly) interested in arts administration during my time at the Children's Theatre Company (next door!). So am happy to feel like I somehow make a difference in peoples' lives, especially fellow artists' lives.

However, I think in the years to come I would like to make a change. I would like the chance to spread my wings and become more independent. I want to photograph, collaborate, challenge and inspire myself. I want to be a part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul's bourgeoning young creative entrepreneur scene, and support others making work like myself.

I know now that I can also dabble, yes dabble! I can make things, blog, photograph when I want to, and not photograph other times, attempt to model clothes when asked, blog some more and enjoy my amazing little life with my amazing husband. I want to take advantage of all of those things, and to take the opportunities that each present to me!

Here's to the coming year, and to not simply achieving your goals, but to also defining them, changing them, and being excited about those goals! Because I've learned that those are important too. In fact, maybe more so.

Happy post-Holidays everyone! Today, Alex and I just lazed around the apartment and watched tv, played video games and started to put away our lovely gifts. We also went out to the Aster Cafe for our normal date night! We went for lunch as an excuse to get out of the house mid-day, actually, but it was nice to keep that part of our Monday since we both have off work.

SURPRISE! ANOTHER GLITTER POST! Well, sorta. Yesterday, my lovely and most best-est friend Emma and her man-friend Bryan threw what I would have to call the most amazing Sparkle-themed Holiday Party. And while we all decked ourselves (and Emma's apartment) out with glitter and glitz, it was a dessert that ended up being my favorite part of the night. Behold, this cake that I made. Yes, that is gold leaf on top. And yes, yes you can eat gold leaf. AND IT IS DELICIOUS MY FRIENDS.

Delicious gold sparkle on a delicious indulgent blackberry cocoa buttercream encrusted dark chocolate cake (with oreooooos!). I found the recipe here and knew immediately that I would have to make it and that I would have to make it for Emma. It was actually pretty simple to make! I cheated and bought buttercream frosting, and then folded in a cocoa and blackberry puree to make it the correct flavor and color. (A select few of you might remember the last time I tried to make buttercream frosting, and how it was a complete and utter flaming ball of disaster.) Try it at home for your next celebratory event, and you will not regret it! I got so many compliments on it! For good measure, I've added a bunch of other party pics as well, some of them are not mine.

(I know I'm sorry Sarah! I had to add it, everyone looked so lovely! I hope you dont hate me... I for one, think you look hott.)

glitter manicures

Okay, so I know that I just posted a glitter project. And now I am about to show you a manicure project (can you do me a favor and ignore the fact that this one also contains glitter so that I dont seem like a total cray? kay.) But, I have been meaning to try out a ton of great manicure ideas lately (seriously you guys, my pinterest runneth over). So I'll keep it short and show you just a coupla pics of how my first endeavor turned out! I super duper love it. It's flashy and festive, but also not too much in to the colorful category (which I always have a problem with). PLUS, its a pretty easy touch-up to cover any chipped polish you had on underneath. (In my case, I just had this sparkly mint green color on already, and put the black over it!)

its glitter time

In keeping with the holiday festive-ness of my recent blog posts, and in preparation for a Sparkle themed birthmachristavus (aka Holiday Party) this weekend, I finally got around to doing a glitter DIY that I have been meaning to do ever since these puppies popped up on the internets and broke my little heart. Why is it, that even when I find an amazing pair of shoes that I HAVE TO HAVE and they are a measly $22 at Forever 21, I still have to hemm and haw over whether or not to buy them!? Well no more people, because as affordable as that pair was, this remake that I whipped up, cost me even less! And now I have both the shoes of my dreams and the pride to say that I did it myself!

Now, I wont go too far into the details, since there are so so many how-tos for this kind of thing out there. BUT. I just have to say that it was so so easy. I took some pointers from this lovely lady and her tutorial, but did it a bit differently as well. The two big differences were that I 1) bought a pair of shoes from Savers that were covered in a suede-like material on the wedge sole part. I did a little reading and it seemed like glittering suede was not such a good idea, so I had to exacto-knife that crap off. Not too bad, no cut fingers or anything!

Then, 2) Kaylah recommends that you use a matte modge podge medium, but I used glossy. I dont know about you, but glitter just screams SHINY to me, and I didnt want to do anything that would cut back on the SHINY factor, you know what I mean?

ingredients:
1 Pair of Shoes (I got mine at Savers for $5, originally from American Eagle, and removed the suede)
1 tube of Modge Podge (I used Glossy)
1 container of Martha Stewart glitter in gold (I got the huge size because, why not?)
some sponge brushes
2 plastic containers to mix/keep the mixture in
newspaper to cover your work surface

Total cost of supplies for this project? $17 BUCKS!

et voila! GLITTER SHOES!

And because I was excited about my ability to glitter things, and the excess amount of glitter I had on my hands, I was all like, "so what else can I glitter in this joint?!?" I actually ended up glittering a plastic back cover for my iPhone as well! Glitter everywhere!! (more photos on my Flickr, as always)

holiday indulgences

Last night, Alex and I finally put up the Christmas tree! I never got to use that tinsel stuff when I was younger, because my parents hated it, BUT THIS YEAR I decided to get a whole bunch and completely drench the tree in it! Havent quite figured out how we'll get it all off of the tree after the holidays, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it. I think it looks fancy. All we did was add my favorite vintage tree topper (an heirloom), some gold bird ornaments, and a few red bird ornaments.

Some how goes nicely with my new print (of tree branches) on the wall next to it, huh?

I am so looking forward to all of the holiday parties and festivities coming up! Though I havent even started my Christmas gift shopping yet (blarggg), I do know mostly what I need to get, and I even look forward to wrapping them (yes, I enjoy that stuff). Then there's all of the delicious foods and beverages to be had at all of these parties. I plan to make this recipe, and another SUPER SECRET dessert recipe, which will be revealed in due time... PLUS, my best friend Katie gets into town for a nice long holiday visit on Monday!!! I miss you, Katie. Prepare yourself for the beers, the Vegas Lounge, and some serious catching up!

I constantly struggle with how to look put together (I sound like my mom when I say that) once its gets to be 20 degrees outside and snowing. Plus, I am always freezing! So I tend to just layer on as many scarves and winter accessories over my warmest sleeping bag coat. But today, I got up, brushed my teeth, and promptly sat down to peruse my "outfit inspiration" board on pinterest to get a little insight into today's outfit for a little vintage shopping with my lady Emma. We had some delicious goodies and coffee at A Baker's Wife (yum!), stopped by Mighty Swell on the hunt to find the perfect vintage cocktail dresses, and ended by chatting with Megan and Nora at the Two Birds Boutique sale. Those two had some great things to peruse this time around, including a great black statement necklace that I picked up. I cant wait to try it out!

Anyways, thanks to pinterest and of course the lovely Liz, of Olive My Love (pictured above), found via CaliVintage, I was inspired to style an outfit similar to this one! I have a coat from H&M that fit the bill, and some great tan suede booties, by Jessica Simpson.

What do you think? I wish I could have worn one of my (many!) striped shirts underneath like the inspiration photo, but in order to stay warm enough, I opted for a flannel that I could layer with a tee underneath that.

Is it too soon to be day dreaming of my Christmas wishlist yet? I am always asking myself this question. Though, my mom asks for lists from all of us in early November so that she can get all of her shopping done by the time December (and the crowds) rolls around! She is super on-top-of-it! So I suppose, its not my own fault...

This year, as with most years now that I am getting a bit older (maturer?), I find myself asking for more sensible items, like winter boots and durable leather luggage. I do of course, have a few frivolous things thrown in there for a bit of fun, but I tend to like asking for gifts that will last me a very long time!

We have a tradition in my family wherein Santa Claus brings us a special bag of gifts on Christmas eve, while we are sitting down to dinner. We dont open any other gifts on Christmas eve, except for this one. It's new jammies! And I love it. The little kids in my family love it too, they are jumping out of their skin during dinner, because they know Santa is coming, and want to be the first to spot the package! I think I'll ask Santa for this classic nightshirt from J.Crew. GUH, THAT CONTRAST PIPING! I am in love!

This year, the most important thing on my list I have asked for: a good pair of black wedge booties. (You may remember Emma's inaugural post awhile back in her "Cold Season" series where she illustrated me with my No. 1 Most-Wanted item for winter and it was this very thing!) I have tall black boots and I have short, brown booties with sky-high heels, but I need something sensible in black to get me through the winter (and still looking fashionable, of course!). The ones I picked are from Urban Outfitters (bottom right), but my dream booties are Chloe, and far far out of my (or any of my family's) reach (top middle). These No.6 Clog booties are also a contender. Ahhhh, well...

Other smaller things: warm tights, wool socks, anything from Hansel from Basel. Especially these woolrich striped tights in burgundy! You can never stock up on too many of these things during Minnesota winters.

I love these simple Kathryn Bentley Bracelets from Beklina. I'd take them in either gold or silver, because I think they'd be a casual way to add sparkle to any every-day outfit. Plus, I've been meaning to wear more bracelets, I am usually known for wearing silly amounts of cocktail rings, and not much in the way of other kinds of jewelry.

I actually bought this pair of BonLook prescription sunglasses glasses, Cocktail Hour in Black and Tortoise, as a sort of pre-Christmas gift to myself. I cant tell you how long I've been dying to get some, and when these came in the mail the other day, I knew I had chosen the right ones, for sure. Thanks everyone, for voting! Ever since I did a bit of modeling for Blacklist Vintage, I've been wanting to try to wear makeup more often. We did a thick black cat eye (a nod to the 60's inspired runway show), and I couldnt believe how much I loved it on me! I tend to focus more on skin care, and hardly ever think about makeup (except nail polish of course). It's just such a hassle usually, and I love me simplicity. HOWEVER, I recently tried out this classic cat eye tutorial from a beautiful mess, and also tried making my eyebrows a bit darker and more dramatic! This instagram photo is all I have for proof this time, but rest assured I will be trying more in the future! Maybe even for a fancy Sparkle-themed Holiday Party I plan to attend soon...

I have been wearing this skirt nonstop lately. I got it at the swap awhile back, was it yours? Well anyways, I've been wearing it a lot. This particular outfit I wore to a happy hour to celebrate with the newly-wed Maggie, and later on Erin stopped by too! I had tons of fun, as usual, and I got to try Bell's Double Cream Stout, which I really liked. Yummmm, winter beers! I love this time of year, if only for the beers, the Holidays and hibernating at home with my hubby. I am not looking forward to snow...

fall foods (part 3)

I cant even begin to tell you about all of the things we made with the last of our summer CSA share. SO MUCH. But I have to say, the last few weeks (in October!) were my favorite boxes. In them, we got squashes, potatoes, chard, onions, garlic, pumpkins and spinach. YUMMMMM. Here are a select few of my favorite meals that we made with them.

First of all, I made PICKLES. Lots and lots of pickles with all of those leftover cucumbers, and other things that I didnt know what to do with. Let's just pickle 'em! Here is the refrigerator pickle recipe I used. Super easy!

This one is Pumpkin and Carrot soup, with ginger.

We made a big batch of pureed cauliflower instead of potatoes, since we wanted to cook them somehow before they went bad. Since we only have a tiny food processor, I wasnt able to get them as creamy and smooth as I would have like. BUT, this is a very good way of getting some vitamins, and limiting your starches (see how I slathered them with butter? That's healthy, right?)

This delicious Pasta with Broccoli Rabe and Italian Sausage recipe. Was. The. Bomb.

Maple Glazed Radishes (and Carrots)

This one's not so pretty, but in another few weeks, I bet it will make for an AMAZING Bloody Mary. Guess what it is? I am infusing some vodka with tomato! Yessss.

Pasta with Butternut Parmesan Sauce. I could seriously eat this stuff with a SPOON IT WAS SO GOOD (I may have)!

Your basic acorn squash, served Midwestern-style with LOTS of butter and brown sugar. And Roasted Brussel Sprouts (also basic, but so delicious!)

Carrot Greens Pesto (instead of Basil Pesto, and LET ME TELL YOU, I think I preferred it to the basil! I reallllllyyyyy loved the fragrant, almost garlicky flavor).

And for Halloween, I made a nice purple cabbage coleslaw and served fresh cauliflower with guacamole (BRAAAIINNNNNS!) I set the squashes I had around the table for decoration, haha PERFECT!

And last but not least, I didnt get a photo of it, but I made a delicious Baked Potato Soup for the last weekend we went to the cabin!

first winter morning

Well, I've officially made it through another Art Sale! I am still exhausted the morning after, and my feet may still be throbbing (three full days on concrete floor isnt the most forgiving), but I am so happy to be waking up this lovely Sunday morning to snow on the ground, my husband making coffee and waffles (!) in the kitchen, and this most ADORABLE video on the interwebs. I think I just died of cuteness. It's going to be an awesome day!!

Just a quick update this morning. Last weekend, I was lucky enough to be asked to model some vintage goods for two birds boutique, owned and operated by my new friends Megan and Nora! It was super fun, and they even let me pick out some things to take home (which I will sharing on the blog VERY soon I am sure)! Well, their very first shop update is complete and here is a little preview! Go ahead and check out the rest of the shop here, and mark your calendars for their next pop-up sale (for you locals) scheduled for December 2nd and 3rd. These past few weeks have been flying by, people. I have a lot of work to do at MCAD, but will hopefully be back up to regular posting speed after next week (the huge, gigantic, awesome MCAD ART SALE! Go and you may see me running around like a mad woman!). Before I forget, here are some great Instax photos my best buddy Ben took at our Halloween party a few weekends ago! I am in love with them (why dont I just carry an Instax with me wherever I go?)! I ended up just dressing as a Gophers Baton twirler, since I found this costume at the thrift store for like, 5 bucks! Man, I feel like all I have been doing lately is going to the eye doctor, the ear nose and throat doctor, the other doctor and having all kinds of tests! Yes, it's that time of year folks, the end of the calendar year (time to get all of your doctor, dentist and isurance information taken care of, yay!). And I have been looking for a new pair of prescription sunglasses to order before then. I want to get one of these from BonLook, what do you guys think? Help a girl out!

I'm leaning towards something rounder, since both of my current regular glasses are pretty angular. What do you think?

Been thinking about overhauling the professional website recently. I mean for real, not just tweaks, and not keeping the same imagery as always. I gotta CHANGE IT ALL people. In looking for inspiration, I found quite a few websites to be inspired by on Cargo Collective, an invite-only platform that "offers its members free standing personal websites with their own URL, a wide variety of templates, and simple but sophisticated tools to control the way their content is displayed. A personal network of their own creation allows members to follow and comment on the work of others, making themselves known by their artistic engagement with the community. I dont have much to share tonight, except that I just got home from the first of what will be many late nights at work, and am eating my favorite pizza, from Uptown Pizza, with artichokes! Good thing I got my Halloween party-time self all worn out on Saturday night! Alex and I hosted it at our place again this year, and let's just say that I got all Star Wars-ed out. Fall Outfit Inspiration

My pinterest boards have been exploding with Fall inspiration lately. And when I pin outfits, I tend to use a lot of images that remind me of a piece I already own, and give me some new ideas of how to style them (do you guys do that too?). For instance, I have a wide leg jean, some button ups, a striped dress, and a winter sweater like the ones pictured below. But there are also some images of pieces that are on my wishlist for this fall, including a colored pant, the perfect blouse, black heeled booties and patterned tights. The fall fashion show at Blacklist on Tuesday night went so well! I did get nervous at one point on stage, and couldnt find my pockets for a few seconds! Oh well, it was such a minor problem. I am just so so thankful that I didnt fall! So far, there is only this one picture of me modeling on the internet, and I look sort of pissed! Luckily, Emma captured a few iPhone photos that are a little better. I will see if I cant get them from her soon. FOOD I MADE PART 3

I might have one more post left after this (only one week left of the CSA share, boo), but here's the bulk of what we've been cooking for the last few weeks! Thanks Turnip Rock, I love your veggies!

Sauteed Sweet Onion, Patty Pan Squash and Green Pepper

Sweet Corn and Sizzled Green Beans with Bacon and Pine Nuts (so easy and so delicious!)

Another yummy Tomato Sauce with Basil and lots of Parmesan

Fresh Tomato Salsa (I used lots of cilantro and lime, and made three jars of it! It was so nice to have on hand when people came over, or as a little snack)

A delicious mix of grilled Squash and Carrots, with garlic and ginger (I didnt use a recipe with this one, I just knew I wanted them gingery, and yes we totally ate them with fish sticks!)

We had so many heads of garlic that we chopped it all up and canned it with a little olive oil, for use later! AWESOME.

Since I paid off one of my student loans recently, I have been trying to save up the money to return my savings account to its former glory, and have been on a virtual shopping ban. But the universe conspired against me and scheduled a whole heck of a lot of vintage sales the past several weekends, and in turn I spent a little money at each one of them... SURPRISE (not)!

But its alright, I cant tell you how good it felt to get my hands on a few good quality new pieces. Shopping withdrawal. Plus, I was able to get rid of a few things at Everyday People. I think I now have enough [shopping] to last me a long while... Including THIS AMAZING little sailor top from B Squad Vintage. Oh my god.

And on a more thrifty note, I attended a little clothing swap the other day with some of my new blogger friends! I cant tell you how fun it was, and HOW MANY CUTE THINGS I SCORED. No, I cannot tell you. So expect my next post to be all about styling my new favorite pieces from some of my new favorite friends! Photo heavy, for sure.

to fall or not to fall, that is the (really big) question

I always attempt to squeeze every last drop out of the summer, every year, and then proceed to ignore the fact that the winter is coming (even though every blogger in the universe becomes obsessed with the Fall collections around August), when really it's already here (damn). Winter in Minnesota means a lot of Netflix, hibernation, home cooked meals and fleeing from one place to another as quickly as humanly possible without freezing your butt off. However, looking back at my wardrobe remix pictures from the last few days, I feel like I may already be sliding into my fall wardrobe... gracefully. And you know what? I don't hate it.

I am a huge fan of wool pea coats, scarves and boots, mind you. But NOT of the cold. As long as this mild weather holds out that we've been having, I think my normally-cranky-winter-attitude may not rear its ugly head. For now, anyways. BE WARNED PEOPLE.

AND NOW, there's something exciting I'd like to mention. MNFashion week is almost upon us, which means lots of fun events to connect with the local fashion community. But this year is even more exciting because I was recently asked to walk in Blacklist Vintage's Fall runway show, "Vintage Did it First"! They have used actual customers as models in the past, and this year is no different. Here is the link to the Facebook event, if you are interested. There will also be refreshments and 10% off all night! Hopefully I wont embarrass myself in front of the entire MNFashion scene (wish me luck!).

Maggie, Emma, Erin and I scoured the Mall of St. Paul last night and went for beer and burgers afterwards at The Nook. I scored a dress, Maggie a cute tin, and Erin a strawberry. Thanks girls, I had a great time! As always.

iPhone photos: Las Vegas

Vegas is a funny place, friends.

There are people from all walks of life flooding the streets with their giant jugs of alcohol, coming out of buffets where they've stuffed themselves silly, snapping pictures of the lights, the architecture, and brand name store fronts. People with Prada shoes, maxi dresses and expensive jewelry, people with cargo shorts, crocs, and their tshirts that say "Hawaii" on them. There are girls in really tight synthetic dresses out on the town, and lots of men in business suits. There are escalators everywhere, speakers line the sidewalks and pump out showtunes and jazz music. Everything is lit to within an inch of its life, and everyone is having a great time. Everyone is smiling. Even the taxi drivers. Vegas was very expensive, more than I could have even imagined. But there was something about it, maybe it was the incredible food, or the poolside drinks and complimentary cucumbers, or maybe it was the cabana boys, but I will definitely be back there someday. Las Vegas, you were good to me and I miss you already. I hardly knew ye...

I'm really proud of how many of them turned out. So much so, I'm thinking about printing a bunch of these and getting them framed for the MCAD Art Sale in November. And speaking of vacations, I'll probably be on a plane right about now on my way to Las Vegas with my lovely husband! He was lucky enough to to be invited to this national software conference this week, and I'm just tagging along. Not sure how much time I'll actually be out and enjoying the town by myself, since we wont have a rental car. But I do plan on laying by the pool and eating lots of great buffet food, for sure. Bloggers and Undies!

Here's a quick post about a recent trip I took to the Minnesota History Center and saw a History of Underwear show with Maria, Erin, Maggie and Emma! It a was relatively small exhibit (a tiny little room!), but that didnt stop us from oohing and aahing at all of the pretty undies from the fifties and sixties. No sir! (Some almost reminded us of Hannah's line, The Loved One.) We also had a great time gabbing and learning about Minnesota together (even I learned some new things, as a native Minnesotan). It seems we all have several things in common (Maria is married like me, and Maggie will be soon too! I love meeting other married ladies.) Can't wait to hang out with these girls again, and next time, Kimi will have to join us! Right Kimi? ;)

early color photographs

I've been fascinated with super early color photographs that have been unearthed recently. These first ones are of New York City street life in the 1940's (found via TeenAngster) and the second set are some of the first color images of the quake in San Fransisco in 1906! Those ones are kind of horrifying, dont you think?

And for something completely different, some color autochrome images of 1920-30's America! I just love the vibrancy of these, the palates are so unusual! Although, it almost doesnt seem like some of these are from the past at all, in some ways. Found via Good Night, Day (more here).

About to go out to drinks with the hubby and my sister, who you might have guessed by the title, lives in the suburbs. I decided to dress a little fancy, pulling out the long skirt, and tying a blouse at the waist (I havent done that since middle school!). I was inspired to pair these two things by a street style picture on the Sartorialist? but Ill have to look it up for you later. Its so weird, I usually pin that kind of thing on my pinterest!

Anywho, here's my FASHION POSE and a close up of the blouse-tied-at-the-waist. Cant wait to go sit out on a gigantic patio complete with man-made pond and FOUNTAIN in a bit, it is actually tolerable outside today! Laterrrr.

Golden Fur Vintage!

I mentioned it awhile back, But I won a contest to Golden Fur Vintage's shop via Calivintage! And I am embarrassed to be posting outfit photos of my winnings just now. HOWEVER, I can totally see myself wearing this little striped sweater a lot more as soon as cooler weather rolls around. And I fell in love with the wicker and leather purse as soon as I saw it!

Here is the little sweater two ways, which is something I have been meaning to do more often on the blog lately. One for summer with clogs and the wicker purse, and one with my new favorite sheer dress and wedges, to dress it up a bit.

New Bed / Ikea Hack No.2

You might remember me mentioning a (long) while back about our Ikea Tobo entertainment unit. Alex hacked it to include ventilation fans and cord control slots in the back, additional support legs and more recently a lockable (and covered, to protect it from dust) drawer to hide the turntable.

Admittedly, we have to come to accrue several furniture things from Ikea over the years. Our most recent acquisition, and most beloved, is an Ikea Lillesand bed frame. We purchased it with our wedding monies (thanks wedding monies, what a lovely and appropriate thing to spend you on!), finally acquiescing to the fact that we needed a new bad frame. Our last bed was also Ikea, the Malm in medium brown (before pictures here). Which is low to the ground and very cheap. It had gotten scuffed and dented over the years and been through several different moves, so we decided it was time for a change. A big change. First, we wanted something higher off the ground, "a real bed" and for it to not be a dark wood that didnt fit in with anything else we owned anymore. I liked the Lillesand because it was almost like a vintage wrought iron bedframe, but IT DIDNT COME IN WHITE. Weird, Ikea. You always have a white option...

Oh well, this would be a fun project. We would buy the bed, take it to the shop at MCAD and PAINT IT OURSELVES. Well, it took several coats, several days to dry and then a ton of hoping and praying that we wouldnt scratch the paint job on the journey home or during installing it. And ta-dah! It is finally here, and we love it a lot.

We still need to tweak the placement of the large painting to the right, as it was centered over the last bed, and I am still thinking about bedside tables, but in the meantime my mini-chair will do just fine.

PS: I really wish I had taken these pictures before we put in the window air conditioner. Dang ugly window air conditioner. I despise you (please dont break on me)!

MN FASHION BLOGGER MEETUP

Oh how fun it was to meet all of the fashionable blogger ladies of the Twin Cities on Saturday at the very first (of what I am sure will be many) MN Fashion Blogger Meetup! I was nervous at first, but we ended up having so much in common and so much to talk about. Nerves. Totally. Calmed. Thanks ladies, I had a great time.

Some fun things: Amy, Emma and I were all lost, but found the place together (strength in numbers!) Lori had the most perfect barn to host us all in (thanks Lori!) Annie had on a dress on that I sold to Blacklist Vintage, and she then purchased! (Funny! She looked way cuter in it anyways) Maggie is getting married in October and has the same wedding photographer as we did! Maria doesnt like milk? (I LOVE MILK) but made the most delicious apricot and brie tarts (I had three!). Kimi has the cutest floral wedges (I've been wanting some just like that, and they were only $20?! I've gotta get on that). Maggie and Megan were wearing the same shoes (from Target)! Alex lives 2 blocks from me, in Uptown (neighbors!) Jill and I talked about short haircuts (and the pros and cons). And it turns out, Christine and I have known each other for quite awhile through wardrobe_remix! (gotta love that internet.)

Had such a busy weekend spent having great dinners, spending time with great friends, and getting to know new ones. Emma and I also went to all of the vintage sales Saturday (of which there were LOTS, WTF?), then to the first ever MN Fashion Blogger Meetup! (More on that later!) Then over to sister in law's for tacos and beer. It was such a long day, but totally worth it. Then Sunday was spent at a bbq/wrap party eating cucumber salads and drinking cucumber drinks (cucumber all of the time!). This morning I've already gone out for iced coffee and puppy dot tails (YUM) at Isles Bun and Coffee and begun to prepare for the Hello Ladies Vintage Sale next weekend (more later on that too!). Gonna be another long day, I think... OR MAYBE I'll just watch Glee in my underwear all day. We'll see.

Oh mah god, I feel so scatterbrained. Could you tell from the previous paragraph that I have no idea where to start? Welllll, I dont. Ill try sorting it out and will let you know. Kay.

heat wave

We have been having a major heat wave! And I have been doing all I can to stay cool. Alex and I even went up to the cabin this weekend to escape the heat (even if only by a few degrees) and spend our days in the lake! I've been feeling pretty inspired lately.

I've been shooting film pretty regularly now, and getting some decent results (you can always take a look on my flickr). And there have been lots of good film photographs popping up here and there in places where I might least expect them, so I thought I would compile a short list of some of my recent inspirations!

PLUS, just today I decided that I really have to get my shit together and begin editing new work for the MCAD Art Sale this year. I KNOW it's not until November, but believe you me, once Fall semester rolls around, I am going to be knee deep in Art Sale planning at work. Which has left me completely at a loss for new work the last 2 years. And I only have 2 years left to participate! SO let this be my official "get your rear into gear miss allison!" note to self. Okay.

You guys, we have just started our first year of a summer CSA with Turnip Rock, and I am loving it! We are on week two, and I am still not quite finished with last week's vegetables! I have a feeling that I really need to get my rear in gear if I want to eat all of these veggies, and try out a ton of new healthy recipes this summer. I MEAN LOOK. AT THIS PILE. OF VEGGIES.

This is a part of Alex's and my joint "new-year's resolution" (kind of) of trying to eat healthier and stay fitter this summer! Eat more veggies. First thing we tried (besides scarfing down the strawberries right out of the crate - yummy!) was this recipe for a marinated swiss chard salad. You can use whatever veggies you have to add to the salad, so I chose to add one of our cucumbers and a crap ton of radishes! Both from the CSA also.

Tonight, I will be making this green garlic pesto (and maybe with the garlic scapes too, if I want leftovers, but I might also save them for something else) to go on linguine!

I have also been learning a ton from our farm's blog on what these funny things are, what to use them for, and in cruising the internet for more infos. Thanks internet!!

Some cool things I've learned about vegetables (and herbs):
*You should add your herbs the last 20-30 minutes of cooking because they lose their flavor with longer cooking.
*Wrapped in wet paper towel, fresh herbs will last in the refrigerator about a week. (COOL!)
*garlic scapes are the flowering stem of heartier garlic plants. Normally, garlic scapes are removed from the plant to focus all the garlic's energy into bulb growth.
*green garlic is simply immature garlic and looks like a slightly overgrown scallion or green onion. They are pulled by growers when thinning crops.
*both garlic scapes and green garlic have a mild, garlicky flavor, but are much sweeter and vegetablier!
*strawberries, when smaller and less ripe, are really sour and tangy while larger riper strawberries are sweet and juicy. I cant decide which I like more!
*kale is actually a cabbage!
*swiss chard is one of the most nutritious vegetables around and ranks second only to spinach
*swiss chard, kale, and other leafy greens are very bitter fresh, but turn sweet and even buttery tasting when cooked (with heat or with vinegar, like my recipe above)! Yum.
*radishes will stay fresh like-forevs if you cut off the leaves and roots, and put them in a bowl of water in your refrigerator. (I had seen this done at a great aunt's house when I was younger, and just thought it was weird. was she trying to get them to grow? I now understand.)

I have finally been getting around to some of the apartment upgrades I have been meaning to do in ages, and it feels so good (extra special thank you goes to wedding money)! First up, we switched out our old shelf in the bedroom with a shiney new one from Ikea. The old one came with the apartment, and was a obnoxiously large and ill-fitting for the space available above the radiator. Now we have one that blends in seamlessly with the wall, isnt shoddy and is a perfectly situated distance away from the wall so that Alex's phone charger can slip right behind it and not fall off!

Well the wedding is over, the bouquet is drying (wilting?), the aftermath is all put away and the apartment is cleaned up. And now we are on our way to beautiful Hawaii! Yes, there will be much more to say about the amazing wedding we had, the amazing pictures, and the amazing forthcoming marriage. But for now I will leave you with my surprisingly well-curated belongings that fit into, I kid you not, one carry on bag. How refreshing it is to fly without checked luggage!

Much more to come in the near future, though I am not sure how much I will post beachside, as I assure you that I will be beachside for the next 7 days straight.

I'm pretty sure that springtime (when it finally arrives), is the best. Also, getting vintage 1940's dresses tailored so that they fit your body and your style, is a pretty close second. Everyone should get things tailored all the time.

I am excited to pick up my wedding dress from the tailor today. I will be getting married in it in less than 3 days (everyone pray for nice weather for me, I think I'm going to need it)!

I am so lucky to have such good girl friends. And I am extra lucky that we've been able to hang out more than usual in the last few months! Brunches, shoppings, wine tasting nights and sleepovers. We have done them all, folks. I think this is due to the fact that, while we are all very busy, we have finally gotten to a place in our lives that allows us a little more (financial and otherwise) wiggle room to hang out. And it's a good thing too, because our dear friend and entrepreneur miss Katie is movin' out west come June. Sad face.

Here are some photos of our recent adventures, below. Which does not include (yet) documentation of our upcoming bachelorette adventure/girls weekend trip to Stillwater this weekend! I cant tell you how excited I am. But I can say that I bought 8 packs of polaroid film on ebay for the occasion (read: expensive). I love you guys!

Hey y'all, I've made a new website for my photography! I had been wanting to switch over to a blog format for a long long time, and finally caved recently when I stumbled across a really simple, easy to edit photo blog template. It still will need a bit of tweaking of course, and some new work added. But I like it so far. I really makes me feel like I got something accomplished, and now I can cancel my monthly web hosting bill, yay!

Edit: And now that I've gotten sooo much done this week, its time to party. Last night I went out to Sweeney's with some best friends, tonight we go for drinks and a midnight movie double-date style, and tomorrow I am being thrown a bitchin brunch time bridal shower! This weekend's gonna be so great, how about you? Got nuthin? You should have a dance off!

I dont know whats gotten into me, but all of a sudden I realized that all these images I've been collecting in my "apartment inspiration" folder have been of blue walls! And that last one, le sigh, bright turquoise blue floor...

I have friends buying houses left and right, and although I dont fully feel the urge to move into a house just yet (I love our little space!), I do feel especially strong house project envy. It always happens to me about this time of the year, beginning of spring, when I just want to spruce everything up. New art! New fixtures! Let's get ridda the rugs! Now I just have to see if I can convince my landlord. :)

If you havent noticed, I have been a little absent lately. I am going to continue to be a little behind in all aspects of my life for a little while, most certainly in blogging. Alex and my apartment was broken into last week and we were robbed of most of our valuables. This means that I am without a laptop and to be honest, I feel a little lost! We are totally fine now though, and will be reimbursed for our losses because we were both lucky enough to have renters insurance!*

*Everyone should totally have renters insurance btw, it is so cheap and so worth it, just in case! Alex and I never thought we would be robbed in this apartment, of all the apartments we have lived in... this one is in a pretty expensive area (You never know).

But in an attempt to retain some sense of normalcy, here are my wardrobe remix pictures since then, uploaded via my work computer (weird)! I feel like only recently have I achieved the winter wardrobe I've been striving for for years. Lots of black, stripes, wool and boots. I also tend to lean towards a more masculine and spare wardrobe in the winter, and then girly-girl it up once spring comes. Now if only I could look fashionable with all of my winter gear on... then I would be set (I envy anyone in a climate where they can bare their wrists to the cold outside much less their legs). But man, if we Minnesotans can make it through February, we will be in the springtime home stretch, WOOHOO!

ps: this also means that Ill have some cool new posts built up by the time I get my new laptop up and running, so we have that to look forward to... Stay warm today everyone! Its gonna be a cold one.

this project called ground rules, started by a few bloggers. new years resolutions. making things. it is all very inspiring, especially since anja's resolution is basically the resolution I would choose for myself, if I had to choose just one. Not to draw persay, but to make things. make more things! (beautiful video for your very first one, anja.)

I have also been inspired by some great analog photography sources recently, I have been wanting to try some new things! for instance, the hipstamatic app for phones (which I dont have, but wish I did), some great flickr groups, my new fuji instax camera that I got for xmas, and my favorite new photo blog, photojojo! now I want to turn my digital b&w images into old fashioned color images, like these antique versions and these tri-color photos! hopefully i'll be trying this out soon, playing with the channel mixer, and maybe with film images too! fun.

And speaking of resolutions (which I never ever make for myself, probably because I feel like they're just another goal that I potentially wont make), I have another in mind. And that is, to just have as much fun as possible this year. Alex and I went out with a random mix of our friends on Friday night, and while we did get too drunk and spent Saturday paying for it, it reminded me that we are so lucky to have the life that we do. We live in a great area that allows us to go out whenever we want, hop on a bus and catch a show, see a movie, or meet up with friends spontaneously. And it is so much fun! I love life, and I love Alex.

We have also been invited to Las Vegas for a weekend soon, and HECK, why should we pass it up? Once in a lifetime right? We will see, but I feel like I have a resolution to uphold, dont you?

a look back at 2010

Do you guys ever go back and look at your wardrobe remixes and get inspired to wear an outfit again or remember a piece of clothing that you haven't worn in forEVAH? I was just going through my old outfit photos, planning to do a good ol' favs of 2010 post, but actually had a better idea. I pulled out a few outfits that I really liked, and would love to wear again, or would love to strive for again! I have been feeling a little stuck lately, wearing the same basic outfit over and over everyday (a good Minnesota winter will do that to ya). These are some ways I dressed for last year's winter that I am going to try to keep in mind when I am fumbling around getting dressed in the mornings this year. I find myself falling into the same pieces everyday and its boring! So I guess this is really just an inspiration post, with my own outfits, centered around a specific season. I feel a recurring post coming on, dont you?

The Holidays are officially over. Another year over. And now I must go back to work in less than 48 hours. I plan on enjoying those last hours to their very fullest! Part of my enjoying will be using all of my new christmas gifts. I did get quite a few nice things for christmas this year, and they look so nicely together too! I guess this is my way of thanking everyone for their marvelous generosity (in addition to actually saying thank you in person of course).

to do list part 1

This week, since I get the whole week off of work, I have a long to do list to tackle. Several things on the list are your good old "do laundry, hang new painting, clean bathroom" but some are little projects I have been meaning to get around to since we moved in! And I have a good excuse to do them, because my aunt is visiting from California for the holidays, and is planning to come over to our place for lunch later this week! So first things first: install under cabinet lighting in the kitchen (below is the "before" picture).

This is something I have wanted to do so badly. We have one overhead light in our galley-style kitchen, and wherever I am standing, the light is behind me. So I am looking down at my shadow when I am trying to fix dinner or do dishes! It's pretty annoying...

Anywho! I finally did it today on my first day off, and man does it look good! It makes the whole kitchen, and even the dingy yucky cabinets look a lot more expensive, and nice. I got the system from Ikea (and had to go back a few times because they sell all of the parts separately, and I didnt get all the right ones at first).

But instead of drilling holes and screwing them in to the undersides of the cabinets like the instructions tell you to, I used a heavy duty doublestick gel tape that we carry at work.

We rent, so we cant make any permanent damage to the cabinets, plus now we can just take them with us if/when we move again! I also got some inexpensive cord control strips that we had laying around (also from Ikea) to hide the cords on the sides of the cabinets.

Twisty-ties were also very helpful for bundling up the excess cord underneath each cabinet section. Hiding those cords was tricky!

I asked for a couple of bags for xmas this year. They are all very expensive gifts, but I think that if I were to get any cash or gift certificates this year, I would use it to buy a giant, vintage leather, caryall bag. The problem is that I know exactly what I want, and I am having a hard time finding exactly that. But below are a few contenders...

First and foremost, abknyc bags are just amazing.

This site, although it seems weird, is awesome for vintage bags.

I am so in love with pinterest! I probably spent all weekend, snowed in, scouring pinterest boards. They have the most beautiful way of laying out gift guides, wish lists, inspiration boards, I have ever seen (a graphic designer's dream). And I can imagine it is super easy to use too! Add from any website?? Yes, please. So far, it is invite-only beta, anyone know how long it will take to get my invite?

outfit inspiration for fall

It always takes me a long time to get in the mood for fall. I am just not a huge fan of the cold weather. And then usually, by the time I enjoy dressing for fall, its the dead of winter. Bluck.

Anywho, I am starting to feel inspired! Some of the images below are just how I want to dress lately: simple, warm, layered, darker hues with pops of white or red thrown in (for kicks). And the first one almost sort of reminds me of my wedding dress, which I just purchased this weekend (HOLY CRAP-OLA)!

ALSO, I weeded out my closet for this season and have two GIANT bags to sell/get rid of. I really love this part, because I end up selling a few things and then buying one nice thing in exchange, for the new season. Its a great way to change up my wardrobe for the coming season. Plus, it gives me a great feeling of accomplishment when my whole closet is neat and tidy, and trimmed of the fat.

MAN, I have been really bad at updating my outfit photos to the wardobe_remix group lately... and even to my Flickr at all!

Anywho, here are some outfits of late. Today a bunch of us went to the apple orchard and picked appples! We also stopped at a roadside stand and got apple butter, root beer, candy and baked goods (yummmyyyy!). We also spotted Christopher Straub from last season of Project Runway? It was a good day. I'll post pictures soon.

Via east side bride, this blogger does happen to talk about her own wedding plans, but describes her plans in a way that makes them oh I dont know HILARIOUS and COMPLETELY UNBORING, like my plans are! Camping will friends at Jay Cooke State Park was the best. Fall colors, cool weather, bacon, chili and banjos. Can't wait to do it again someday!!!

Dear Blog,

Very sorry to have left you hanging for the last uhh... MONTH. A lot has been happening for me lately, not least of which is back to school, which means being super busy at work. Which means that I am on the computer all day, and dont have the stomach to do more computer-ing when I get home from work at the end of the day. And when I do, its usually wedding-related. But excuses, excuses...

But here I am to make up for it! I have been wearing some pieces (specifically dresses) two ways, one for summer and one more for the coming fall, I have noticed. So, inspired by my lovely fashion-blogger-colleagues, here are a few "worn two ways" photos! I've never really done a post like this before, save for some "before and after" alteration versions. the cobblers

I went and got these shoes cobbled last week and I totally love them! I got them for a buck at Blacklist Vintage's Annual Digger's sale (and didnt realize they were broken), and had them fixed for $30 bucks. It was totally worth it! If you live in the Minneapolis area, I would highly suggest Lee's Shoe Repair on Lake.

I am so looking forward to wearing these in the transitional fall months when I need a closed-toe shoe. But I can easily wear them with or without tights! Perfect!

You can see in the bottom picture best where the strap was added onto. I think its super charming.

Browsing the Commons on Flickr today, and came across these autochromes from the Swedish National Heritage Archives. I would love to just languish in these beautiful Swedish gardens for the rest of the summer, wouldnt you? They look so hot and calm and wonderful.

ps: I've been totally blog slacking lately. I apologize, but it seems like Alex and I are out of town or at some big event every weekend this summer!
